The Carolyn Eynon Singers (CES) is proud to announce the return of its annual Choral Music Student Vocal Competition, continuing its commitment to supporting and inspiring the next generation of young vocal artists throughout Arizona.

Celebrating Young Musical Talent

For two decades, the Carolyn Eynon Singers has been dedicated to promoting musical excellence, education, and community engagement.

The annual Student Vocal Competition reflects this commitment by providing aspiring young singers with an opportunity to develop their performance skills, gain valuable audition experience, and receive recognition for their musical achievements.

This year's competition will recognize two outstanding student vocalists:

One female vocalist — $500 cash award
One male vocalist — $500 cash award

A total of $1,000 in cash awards will be presented to the selected winners.

A Special Performance Opportunity

In addition to receiving cash awards, both competition winners will join the Carolyn Eynon Singers in recital at the final concert of the season on Sunday, May 16, 2027, at 3:00 PM, at the beautiful Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts.

The two winners will be recognized during this special concert, at which time their $500 awards will be formally presented.

This performance offers young vocalists a wonderful opportunity to share their talents with the community and perform alongside an established choral ensemble.

2027 Competition Details

The competition will take place on Saturday, January 16, 2027, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, at Mountain View High School in Mesa, Arizona.

Parking and Arrival Information

Participants and guests should park in the lot located at the corner of Brown Road and Lindsay Road.

After parking, enter through the campus gate and follow the posted signs to the Performing Arts Center (PAC).

The PAC is the large building located in the middle of campus, easily recognizable by its floor-to-ceiling windows.

Individual audition times will be assigned as applications are received.

Eligibility Requirements

The competition is open to high school students who meet the following criteria:

Currently enrolled as a junior or senior in high school in Maricopa County, Arizona.
Actively participating in a school-age choir in Maricopa County.
Have permission from a parent or guardian and their choir director or vocal coach.

Performance Requirements

Participants should prepare two contrasting vocal solos, each at least two minutes in length.

Appropriate repertoire includes classical art songs, arias, or other suitable classical vocal selections. Performances may be presented in English or another language; a foreign language is not required.

Participants must:

Bring three copies of their prepared music for the judges.
Arrange for their own accompanist.
Be prepared to perform at their assigned audition time.

A piano will be available at the competition venue.
