Nellie Cronin
collaborative accompanist

A native to the midwest, Nellie Cronin was fortunate to get her primary training in high school working as apprentice to Elvina Truman Pearce in the Piano Pedagogy Department at Naperville College in Illinois. She earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees of music in piano performance at the University of Illinois, and while there, she studied with Ian Hobson. Just out of college, she was selected as primary teacher for the Iroquois Arts and Education Council. During her Illinois years, Nellie served as choral accompanist for the Central Illinois Children’s Chorus and the University of Illinois Men’s Chorus. She was also the director of music and pianist at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Champaign.

After moving to Seattle, Nellie had the pleasure of working under Dr. Glenn Gregg as accompanist and soloist for the Kirkland Choral Society, the largest choir on Seattle’s east side. While there, Nellie made her debut at Benaroya Hall. She also worked as associate organist and pianist under Dr. Scott Dean at Bellevue Presbyterian Church.

Upon moving to the Phoenix area in 2012, she has been an active collaborative pianist working with a wide variety of instrumentalists and vocalists, including Nokuthula Ngwenyama, Alexis Davis, and Earl Hazell. Nellie worked as interim director of music at Valley Presbyterian Church for 8 months in 2015. Nellie loves to teach piano.

Nellie has always maintained a private piano studio – first in Champaign, Illinois, then Bellevue, Washington, and currently in Scottsdale, Arizona. She joined the Carolyn Eynon Singers in 2017 and is delighted to be working with such a vibrant, musically sensational ensemble!
